Located in the municipality of Valga, northwest of the province of Pontevedra and inaugurated in 1999, the IES de Valga (Galicia) decided to renovate its classrooms with 75-inch Traulux TLM80 interactive monitors, which offer them a wide range of educational possibilities. such as saving files, working in class without using a PC and better screen resolution.

This Institute of Secondary Education has cycles of Basic professional training (FP); medium cycle of Welding and Boilermaking; as well as higher cycle of Metallic Constructions. After consulting with the Elinfo Computer installer, at the beginning of 2021 they updated the projectors and PDI in their classrooms with 75-inch Traulux interactive monitors and their respective Traulux metal connection boxes to organize the cables.

“6 months ago we acquired the 12 Traulux interactive monitors. They are used to give classes, both with the blackboard and to execute presentations or student work directly from a flash drive”, explains the deputy director of the center, Ana Bueno. Likewise, it highlights "the possibility of working directly on the monitor, without depending on a PC".

Pen display features

The Traulux TLM80 and TLM80-1 interactive monitors, distributed by Charmex , have been manufactured to meet the most demanding needs in the educational field. By having the Android operating system, they are easy to use, since it is a software that is well known by users, which, in turn, is technically stable. Added to this, its processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM, allows solving many of the needs of the classroom without having to resort to external equipment.

The TLM series comes with pre-installed applications, such as WPS for playing Office files, Gallery for playing images, or VLC for playing videos. It also includes Eshare PRO for managing the 'BYOD mirroring' system or wireless projection from mobile devices, smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Features and benefits of its use in the classroom

After experimenting with its use in the classroom, Vice Principal Bueno highlights multiple benefits: "The visibility problems caused by the clarity of the classrooms with the projectors are over, and we obtained better image resolution by installing these high-definition monitors." Regarding the infinite whiteboard application, he adds: “A differential advantage over the traditional use of a projector or blackboard is the fact of being able to generate various workspaces without having to delete them and then save them to retrieve them in another session. Or even send them to the students so that they can access them from home”.

The interface and hardware of the monitors have been designed seeking the maximum simplicity of use so that, from the first moment, the user experience is simple and intuitive. For example, in the whiteboard app, you can freehand write smoothly and accurately, erase by hand, resize notes and objects to unleash ideas, or highlight what's important, without space constraints, all in one or more pages.

In the same way, the teachers and employees of the IES de Valga have received various training sessions by the technicians of the supplier-installer company, Informática Elinfo. And, little by little, the teachers are investigating the functionalities of the monitors to use them as a work tool. To this day, "they are used every day in common use classrooms, and can be used by all the teachers at the center," explains Bueno.
